An "IBTI Certified" course or program is one that has been approved by the IBTI advisory board.   Only courses or programs can be "IBTI Certified".   Colleges cannot be "IBTI Certified".   The criteria for "IBTI Certification" is defined below, however, the criteria are designed to help the IBTI advisory board answer the following question:

Would the individual who successfully completes this training be a more valuable employee to the biofuel industry, compared to employees without training or training from non-IBTI certified courses/programs?

The criteria used by the IBTI Advisory Board are as follows:

• Is the course content relevant to today's biofuel industries?
• Will biofuel industries value the training provided in this course/program?
• Is the course/program of sufficient rigor to ensure that successful completion will result in new knowledge for the student?
• Do the instructors have sufficient knowledge and experience to effectively teach the course?
• Are the facilities sufficient to deliver the training?
• Is the course/program competency based?
• Will the course/program be available in a high demand region?
• Does the course/program train for high demand occupations within the biofuel industry?
